Selma Response

In the film Martin Luther King was trying to get the right to vote for all of the blacks in Selma. Although this is the main point that is stated outright there is a bigger point underlying all of this. The actual main point was the fact that he wanted to prove that they would persevere over the abuse and cruelty of the whites no matter how rough the situation got. Overall I did like the film because it was focused on one of the men that I have admired for a long time. Also it showed the truth about what had happened during that time period. Before watching this film I wasn't very familiar  with the voting movement in Selma, but I did know about MLK's previous achievements with topics such as the bus boycott and his "I have a Dream speech". By having previous knowledge about these topics I understood and enjoyed the movie more than if I didn't have the knowledge about the topic.
